Will the Danish market be profitable for approved poker sites and their players?
It is going to be very interesting to see how the sites work in the now regulated Danish market considering that the Denmark Government is taking a very juicy 20% tax rate on the GROSS revenues from the poker sites and casinos.
With sites on networks having to normally pay from 10%-20% network fees that does not leave a lot of room to maneuver – especially for sites that are use to running a lot of promotions or offering high revenue deals to affiliates or high rakeback deals to attract or steal poker players.
The approved sites now able to attack the Danish market from January will have to operate differently and lessons learned from the French market will come in very handy.
I’m a skat man
As ardent followers and practitioners of anything skat we are very pleased that the Danish Gambling Authority site is skat.dk
Also that the Danish Gambling Authority is an authority placed within the Ministry of Taxation. At least they are not hiding the main fact of what the regulation of Denmarks gambling and poker market is all about.
But taxation of online gambling and indirectly an extra tax on its poker playing residents are not the only reasons for the regulated Danish poker sites. As mentioned by pokerQ4 in the Regulation of Poker Within Denmark article written in August.
The main reasons for Denmark implementing regulation, among others are, consumer protection, defending against fraudulent activity and distributing any profits made to charitable organisations.
It will be very interesting to see how the pokerQ4 ideas and industry knowledge of what will or may likely happen in the Denmark online gambling market turn out?
