Purple Lounge are joining Entraction and leaving MGS (Microgaming) this month in a bold move that could pay dividends to its players and owners.
With Purple Lounge leaving Microgaming this should free them from the tight reins that MGS use to keep their skins in line with their network policies for such things as rakeback and promotions.
The Entraction network has had many different phases and faces over the last 10 years and especially in the last 5 years but with Entractions recent takeover by IGT perhaps the foundations have been laid for a period of rapid growth in what is a much loved but drives you crazy relationship by its loyal players.
It will be interesting to see how Purple Lounge leaving Micrograming effects Microgaming player numbers and how Purple Lounge joining Entraction boosts their player liquidity? With NoiQ having joined Entraction a few years ago the network has some decent sized sites and perhaps now enough player numbers to reach a vital tipping point?
Purple Lounge join Entraction – will it work?
Will the move work for Purple Lounge? It will all depend on the players and the promotions and rakeback they are offered.
Normally when sites switch network they are allowed to grandfather (migrate) a certain number of players on their current rakeback deals. Ongame for example will allow a very small number of players to retain a very high rakeback deal, a few more to keep a standard deal and then everyone else has to accept the Ongame VIP system. Which was a real kick in the balls for sites like Betfair who were their own independent poker room and had most players on massive rakeback deals.
It is not known at the moment what the deal is for rakeback players but this will be a vital part of the chances for a successful migration to Entraction. With Entraction being a rakeback network the grandfather allowance should be very generous with perhaps most players retaining their rakeback deals. As Microgaming are strict on the amount of rakeback players are offered then perhaps everyone apart from those on super high deals (that most poker network skins offer illegally) will get the same rakeback deal on Entraction?
Purple Lounge joining Entraction and leaving Microgaming is certainly an interesting move. Perhaps they are positioning themselves for where they think the grass is greener for the long term future and also possibly the opening of the USA market?
