Rio robberies and Twitter Thieves?

A poker player, Jennifer Leigh, has had her room entered and room safe broken into while staying at the Rio and she is not the first poker player to suffer a room burglary this year it seems.

The female poker player known as Jennicide has posted on twitter about her terrible luck which started the day before in a poker tournament when jennicide posted “Lol out already flop nut straight, lady w some horseshoe up asshole ships it w a set on turn obv gets there w board pairing river. ;) ” and it just got worse the next day when the break in and theft in her Rio room took place.

Jennicide is Jennifer Leigh a semi famous poker player not just for her poker skills but also her looks and body. Jennifer Leigh has appeared in Playboy and FHM magazines.

Jennicide says there are rumours of multiple poker player Rio robbery victims this year … “Apparently, I’m not the first player that has had safe robbed here so far this summer. High limit Stud player had same situation..nice hotel“.

Jennicide goes on to confirm that the Rio has no security camera’s in the hallways to protect guests privacy. Depending on which side of the ‘Big Brother’ Camp you are on this is either an amazing stand against the Big Brother surveillance society or now appears rather silly.

It is also starting to look more suspicious as an ‘inside job’ burglary, as Jennifer Leigh (@Jennicide) later posted on Twitter that “not 3 ‘break ins’ but just master key entries etc, maids or whoever else in hotels who have one..best part, my room wasn’t even cleaned“. If Jennifer Leigh’s comments about not just her burglary but others of poker players at the Rio are true then it leads to some very awkward and worry times for poker players staying at the Rio.

I tell you something, I know what you’re thinking

Does the advent of Social Media and especially Twitter enable opportune burglaries like this, especially from famous poker players who are active Social Media devotees? If the thieves target a well known and frequent Twitter poker player will they know when they are not in their Rio room or house. In the case of Daniel Negreanu and other high stakes poker players in their Mobile Home that is just out the back of the Rio in the car park (burglaryback revshare of industry standard 35% please to all those who act on this information).

The Duran Duran song ‘Rio’ is nothing to do with poker but, in a tenuous link to mention this great old song, it is in theory about the same subject as the hotel is named after. It also has some lyrics that can now be reinterpreted in our now very different Social Media society. It appears that Duran Duran are on the level with Nostradamus and may have been in tune with the coming generation of Social Media opportunity burglars, Facebook Felons and Twitter Thieves.

Hey now (woo), look at that.
Did he nearly run you down?
At the end of the drive, the lawmen arrive,
You make me feel alive, alive, alive
I’ll take my chance, ’cause luck is on my side
I tell you something, I know what you’re thinking
I tell you something, I know what you’re thinking
