Tourney Of The Week: #Pokerstars Sunday Supersonic

We appreciate that not all of you reading this will be poker pros. In fact at least 90% of you can’t be, which means that you will more than likely have to be getting up on Monday morning at some stupid time to start your working week.

This means that playing the Sunday Million on Pokerstars – the biggest weekly online tournament there is – is simply not an option for most of you. Most tournaments with prizes worth winning are not accessible to the working man unless he happens to have booked at least a week’s vacation in advance. In the first of an occasional series we’re here to show you what the options are for those who are looking to win big but to whom time is precious.

The Sunday Supersonic is the perfect way to end your weekend and what could be better than starting the week $40K better off? The Supersonic starts at 11:30PM UK Time and, as a hyper-turbo tourney, should see you getting to bed at around 01:00 at worst. If you’re still playing later than that then you’ll be in the serious money positions so we’re sure you’ll cope!

The buy-in is possibly a bit steep at $215 but with a prize pool regularly exceeding $200K and the possible first prize mentioned above this is ideal for those who can’t play for hours on end just to outlast thousands of players and pick up a few dollars. Don’t forget that there are literally hundreds of ways to satellite in if you find the point of entry too high.

You get 3,000 chips so you don’t have to go crazy too early but with 3 minute blinds it won’t that long until you’re going to have to get busy. This is no problem though if you know your hand ranges so as long as you’re pushing more than you’re calling you’ll be giving the deck all the chances it needs to hit you in the face.

Even if you’re tired, drunk, bad at poker or maybe all three the pace of this tournament is a great leveller. The further you get in the more automatic your moves will become so with a bit of luck it could be you taking this down next Sunday night.
