Week Ahead: Betfair #Poker

This week we’re going to tell you about the value of playing on Betfair Poker on the Ongame Network, although whether that’s Ongame 1 or Ongame 2 we don’t know – and seemingly neither do Ongame at the moment!

Unfortunately Betfair do not accept players from the USA or the newly regulated markets except Denmark but for the bulk of you reading this, this site should still be an option. Somebody better call my momma!

Betfair are backed by possibly the biggest online sportsbook operation in the world, taking commission on bets made between players rather than punters taking on the house. As a result Betfair’s profit comes from sportsbook ‘rake’ rather than from laying losing bets so in that way it is very similar to the poker model. Betfair simply provide the facilites to play on the sportsbook or the poker client, who wins is entirely irrelevant to them. That should be the case on all sites but there’s an army of rigtards who’d tell you otherwise!

Cash game players

Betfair offer a welcome bonus of up to $2,500 and up to 40% value back via the loyalty system. For the average or even modest player Betfair do some of the biggest value promotions on the network. Most notably they run in particular two current promotions that suit cash game players right down to the ground.

Firstly they have the $50,000 Rake Hands Frenzy which caters to cash game players specifically. The latest run started on January 30th with 3 leaderboards for the small, medium and high stakes players until Feb 20th. You could be surprised at the leaderboard placing you could get for just a modest amount of play and of course you’ll still be earning loyalty points while also particpating in the Natural Born Grinders race.

The only thing you need to kill to win the Natural Born Grinders promotion is your social life but the rewards justify it with a $60,000 prize pool and $10,000 to the victor. The next race starts this Friday with all rake and fees counting towards your total. Don’t forget though that you must opt in to both this and the Raked Hands Frenzy in order for your hard work to be counted.

S&G players

For S&G players there is a weekly $10,000 Skill & Go leaderboard rewarding both success and volume to the tune of $700 for 1st place. Again a little effort will be rewarded here even if you’re not the best Sit & Go player and as said above the fees you pay count towards the NBG race also.

MTT players

First and foremost, just around the corner is GSOP – the Grand Series Of Poker on Ongame with nearly $4 Million in guarantees starting on Feb 26th. There is also a weekly $100,000 and $200,000 guaranteed tournament every Sunday with a range of satellites. Back to the GSOP you also have the Team Betfair GSOP Trials which require just $8 paid in tournament fees or rake and could get you a seat in the weekly freeroll with $2,500 in GSOP prizes.

Every Wednesday there is the Betfair Community Special where ‘money can’t buy’ sporting event tickets are awarded and finally there is a huge range of new player, loyalty and bankroll booster freeolls to suit all stake ranges.
